About

Cale Plett (they/them) is a nonbinary, genderfluid writer living on Treaty 1 Territory in Winnipeg, MB.

Their short fiction and poetry have been published in journals across Canada and the US, with more forthcoming in 2024. Cale’s YA novels span everything from high school rock bands to monsters. They emphasize diverse queer representation in settings where LGBTQ+ characters can exist safely within their identities, leaving space for all sorts of heartbreak, euphoria, and disaster.

Cale has a BA in Creative Writing from the University of Winnipeg and recently attended the Emerging Writers Residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. There, they worked on their new LGBTQ+ YA horror novel, The Saw Mouth, with the support of authors Katherena Vermette and Tanya Boteju, as well as their beautiful writing peers.

In the rest of their life, Cale is a literacy educator and guitar teacher. They can typically be found wherever their favorite people are, preferably somewhere with live music to listen to, boardgames to play, or lakes to swim in.

Cale Plett is represented by Amy Tompkins at Transatlantic Literary Agency.
